When buying a bike

Hey! I know some of you are looking to buy your first bike, or looking into buying a bigger bike. Most people start off with used bikes when looking. So here are a few things to think about and look for before buying a used bike.

It is always great when looking for a bike. THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS. My problem is that I want all of them. As I stated in one of my early posts is that my TTR is a used bike. She is absolutely beautiful. So lets start with these tips.
1) When looking for a bike come up with a price in your head that you are not willing to spend over . This will help you only look at the bikes you can afford.
2) Look at lots of bikes, the first one you see COULD be the perfect bike, but also do not just settle, give yourself options.
3)Try to go to a private seller because these bikes are usually a lot cheaper than buying from a dealer.
4) If the price is too good to be true something is usually wrong with the bike, keep looking. Or it could be stolen! Always check to see if registration and serial numbers have been removed. If so DO NOT BUY!!!
5) When going to look at the bike look the bike all over before buying, even bring a mechanic to make sure everything is all set in place and the bike does not have some horrible secret issue that can not be found out.
6) Make sure no fluids are leaking from the bike
7) Do not be afraid to ask questions
8) Let the seller tell you what he/she has to say about the bike
9) If the seller is ify about letting you test drive the bike (thinking you are going to steel it, yes that happens) give him/her something in collateral while you test drive it like you keys or licence.
10) Once the deal is made ask the seller about extra parts, manuals, receipts, and a key to the bike. If only has one key make sure you go down to the store and get another.
